BASIC MAINTENANCE TIPS
FILLING WITH CONVERTER
If you are using a converter, then unscrew the pen. Empty the converter from ink residue by turning the upper end until the plunger inside reaches its lowest position. Be careful that a few drops of ink may leak from the tip. Then immerse the entire tip and the beginning of the grip below the ink level and rotate the upper end of the converter until the plunger reaches its highest position. This fills the pen. Gently clean it with a cloth and screw on the barrel.
FILLING WITH CARTRIDGES
If you are using cartridges, then unscrew the pen, remove the old one and insert a new one instead. It is necessary to press it with a click so that the mouth is perforated and the ink flow starts. Kayu pens are compatible with universal international size cartridges.
"If you fill the pen with cartridges or have not written for a while, it will take a while for the ink to come down, because the ink has to run into the tip. If you use converter and are in a hurry try turning the upper end and sliding the plunger down a little so it pushes out the ink from the nib. "
CLEANING THE PEN WIT CONVERTER
All you have to do is unscrew the pen and suck in and drain clean (preferably distilled) water instead of ink, as if the pen were being filled with ink. Rinse until colorless water comes out of the nib, ideally the transparent wall of the converter will be completely clean and also colorless after ink. When you're done, dry the pen with a cloth and screw it on. Only remove the converter in exceptional cases, as this may cause ink to leak out.
"I highly recommend cleaning the pen every time you refill it, but at least once every two months. Also regularly check the cleanliness of the tip and cap itself from the inside and remove any ink or dirt. If you do not use the pen for longer, keep it free of ink and rinsed."
CLEANING THE PEN WITH CARTRIDGES
After unscrewing, you basically have two options. You can rinse the entire section with the nib without a cartridge under running water, occasional blowing is also allowed. Or you will be more sophisticated. Insert the mouth of the classic syringe directly onto the plastic inlet of the tip (a black point with a hole in the middle of the hole to install the cartridge). It should fit perfectly. Rinse until clear water comes out, then dry with a cloth and put the barrel back on.
REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS
If there is a stain on the pen from ink or something else, I recommend cleaning it with a cloth soaked in water, or some spirit Try removing more stubborn stains with technical alcohol, but use it on wooden parts only in exceptional cases, as it does not benefit the surface. Do not use thinners, petrol or other solvents. If you happen to damage any of the parts, you may not lose everything. Contact me and we will definitely come up with something.
