DESIGN AND INVENTION

This is the most exciting part of our work. That is why we never use kits or any semi-finished products for the production of our writing instruments. We invented, drew, designed and made all the pens ourselves. If you are looking for an innovative view of design with a strong emphasis on functionality and usability, try to contact us. Maybe there will be something to it.

KAYU EGINO
We started learning everything about pens with this model in two shape variants. Craft, construction, design. And the first really functional pen from our workshop was created.
Assignment:
Light, clean, simple, highly usable, taking into account ecology and sustainability. Handmade to measure.
Solution:
The pen weighs only 12.5 g without a cap, a combination of recycled wood lined with brass and anodized aluminum for durability. Completed with addictive magnetic closure.
KAYU 130 - Patented
Kayu 130 was created out of the need to relax a little from a several-year routine in the workshop and to come up with something really innovative.
Assignment:
Fountain pen of a completely new and modern design, which solves the biggest shortcomings of most standard fountain pens: grip, cap, closure, obsolence.
Solution:
A purely cylindrical pen without a clip, the nib is pushed out by a cap, which, after being placed on the back end of the pen, pushes it out and fixes it with magnets. No edges prevent the user from misgripping. Thanks to the center of gravity off-axis, the pen does not roll even on an inclined plane

KAYU KUKA
A simple dip pen focused mainly on artists, calligraphers and other souls kissed by the muse.
Assignment:
Affordable, simple to manufacture, long-writing and at the same time easy to wash
Solution:
Super light rounded pen, consisting only of a wooden handpiece, anodized aluminum grip and nib. The pen can write for one dip for up to 5 minutes and can be equipped with many different types of nibs. It can be easily cleaned thanks to the flushing hole and for transport it is possible to screw the grip into the barel in the opposite way and thus hide the nib against damage.
The sale of the first-generation Kayu Kuka has been terminated, we are currently working on version 2, which will move the features of the pen at least one order forward
.REDESIGN FOR CENTROPEN
In 2020, we were approached by a Czech legend among stationery manufacturers, Centropen from Dačice. After one meeting, we agreed to start cooperation on the redesign of one of the products with great commercial potential.
Within a few months, three main variants of the solution were created, offering different approaches to the redesign of that product. Based on them, we created digital and 3D printed models, which the client considered the most promising. The cooperation in this project was successfully completed by handing over the work to Centropen for further development.

MECHANICAL PENCIL, REFILLABLE MARKERS
Because we ourselves feel that fountain pens are not the only discipline in the design of writing instruments that we would like to focus on, we already have concepts of completely different and innovative writing instruments in our heads, on paper and partly in our hands.
For both the mechanical pencil and the fountain pen, we would like to cause a small revolution in the concept of these writing instruments. Unfortunately, development is a very time-consuming discipline and in combination with production duties it takes us a bit. But we'll make it, no kidding!
PARKING LOT
Stationery is not the only field where we would feel the possibility of innovation. We are thinking, for example, about toys, garden tools or household cleaning supplies. But honestly, there's so much to do that we only manage to make diary notes in the hope that sometimes the right time will come.
The source of drinking water for households and potentially also houses or municipalities should be a design masterpiece we are thinking of. And without the need to supply energy. So keep your fingers crossed, maybe we will be able to implement this idea.
